Nausea - I but stop if client says / sensation that often leads to vomiting
Nerve Compression - same as pinched nerve / nerve is being pinched by bone or cartilage
Neuritis - LC for A / inflammation of the nerve
Obesity - LC for deep pressure in extreme fat tissue / if person is 30% above ideal body weight
Occlusion - LC / clogged vessel
Open Wounds - LC until healed
Osgood Schlatter Syndrome - LC for A / growing pains, tibia grows faster
Osteoarthritis - LC for A and I for SA / joint inflammation from wear and tear
Osteogenesis - no vigorous massage / fragile bones
Osteoporosis - Light massage only / loss of bone mass
Ovarian Cysts - LC / benign, fluid filled growths
Overgrown Toenail - LC / thick, deformed, sometimes curling under a toe
Paget’s Disease - I for only mild cases / bone is replaced with fibrous connective tissue
Paralysis - I and light pressure if there is no sensation / loss of muscle function or loss of sensation
Paraplegia - I but light below the waste / paralysis of lower extremities
Paresthesia - I but light / abnormal sensation on a part of the body, nerve damage
Parkinson’s Disease - I but gentle massage / degeneration of substantia nigra cells
Patellar dislocation - LC until healed / dislocation of the kneecap
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease - C for active infection / bacterial infection of female organs
Pericarditis - LC/ inflammation of the pericardium
Peripheral Neuropathy - LC / damage to peripheral nerves of hands and feet
Peritonitis - C for A / inflammation of the abdomen, bacterial infection
Pes Cavus - I / higher than normal arch in the foot
Pes Planus - I / flat feet, not enough of an arch, weakness in the soleus-gastroc group or tibialis anterior
Phantom Limb Pain - I / pain felt where the amputated limb was before
Phlebitis - LC / inflammation of the veins
Pinched Nerve - I within pain tolerance, if you are using trigger point therapy and the pain does not go away after 10 seconds or if it gets worse move to another area / nerve is pinched by tight muscle, tendons, ligaments or fascia
Plantar Fasciitis - I / inflamed plantar fascia of the foot
Pleurisy - C if infection / stabbing pains during breathing, inflammation of pleural membranes
Pneumonia - C for A and I for SA / infection in the lungs
Polio - I only for post acute / viral infection
Post Polio Syndrome - I / polio survivor
Postoperative Situations - depending on the reason and at least 8 weeks for major surgeries
Postural Deviations - I / kyphosis, lordosis, scoliosis
Pregnancy - I but precautions with each trimester
Premenstrual Syndrome - I / Precede menstrual period
Pruritus - LC if open / severe itching of the skin
Psoriasis - LC for A and I for SA / skin disease
Pulmonary Edema - C for severe / fluid in the lungs
Pyelonephritis - C if infection is present / infection of kidney or renal pelvis
